Anès Bassem ROMDHANI (born
in December 1995) violon - TUNISIA Anès’s papa plays the trombone in the Tunis orchestra. His mother runs a kindergarten at Medina Jadina, in the suburbs of Tunis. When she was pregnant with Anès, she often put a CD player on her abdomen. She laughs, recalling how he would wiggle when the music played, then be still when it stopped! This is a child who began to participate in musical gatherings at a very young age. At present, he is sometimes invited to play with the Tunis orchestra, which explains his being so at ease with the WPO. Two days before he came to France, the President of the Tunisian Republic received him so as to offer his personal congratulations to Anès as the chosen representative of the African continent to the WPO. Thanks to the scholarship he has received, he will participate in a T. Varga competition in Switzerland from July 21st to August 12th, 2006. He will continue his training and participate in other competitions in Europe. Current activities : 2006 Anès achieved great success at Sion (Switzerland) in August, where he was selected from around one hundred children nominated for this course. Only 8 candidates were retained, and he was one of them. He received a PC with webcam, presented to him by the President of the Tunisian Republic, as a present for his contribution at the Tunisian Day of Music in August 2006. 2007 - January : on "TV MEZZO" (cable & satellite) : Portrait of this young musician. - February : VATELOT/RAMPAL Competition in Paris : Anès wins First Prize with a mark of 19,5/20. - May : participation as leader invited in the Tunisian Symphonic Orchestra - July : participation in Paris at the prizewinners concert organized by the Vatelot/Rampal foundation - July (end of) : participation in master class organized in Tunis by teachers from the "Julliard School" (USA) - Anes has been invited to participate in the "Yehudi Mehnuin Academy" selection in London. - September : Anes auditioned successfully and was accepted into the Yehudi Menuhin School in London. - December : soloist for an exceptional concert at the "Hotel National des Invalides" Paris, (see the video above). 2008 - July 30 : an exceptional concert was given in Tunis with Anes and Andrei (who came specially from Romania in this occasion).
